This overview describes the business model and major features of Amazon FPS Aggregated Payments Quick Start.
Amazon FPS Aggregated Payments Quick Start enables you to track and aggregate smaller payments, even as low as to $0.01, into a single payment transaction. You can charge your buyer before (prepaid) or after (postpaid) the service is provided. This functionality lets you minimize transaction processing costs and avoid having to build complex ledger functionality into your applications.
Amazon FPS Aggregated Payments Quick Start provides the following major features:
Create prepaid instruments—Buyers can authorize the creation of prepaid instruments that can be used like gift cards to make purchases.
Get prepaid balances—You can obtain the available balance on the prepaid instrument.
Create postpaid credit instruments—Buyers can authorize the creation of postpaid credit instruments that can be used like credit cards by buyers to make purchases on your website. The accumulated debt is settled later.
Get debt balances—You can obtain a buyer's postpaid liability.
Get transaction status—You can retrieve a transaction's status, such as whether the transaction has completed successfully or not.
Settle or write off the debt—You can completely or partially settle the debt the buyer has accumulated on the postpaid credit instrument. Or, you can write off part or all of the accumulated debt (for example, as a promotional or discount item).
Seamless mobile payment support—Amazon FPS automatically supports payments within mobile web browsers.
Instant Payment Notification—You can be notified automatically when transactions succeed or fail.
Refunds—You can refund the money from a successfully completed transaction.
Cancel payment tokens—You can cancel prepaid or postpaid payment tokens at any time to bar any future transactions.
For different functionality, such as multi-use payment tokens, go to one of the other Amazon FPS Quick Starts.
Amazon FPS has five parts, each providing a different slice of Amazon FPS functionality:
Amazon FPS Basic Quick Start. Facilitates a one-time payment between a buyer and a developer (you) who is also the merchant for e-commerce, digital content, donations, or services.
Amazon FPS Marketplace Quick Start. Facilitates a one-time payment between a buyer and a merchant, where you are a third-party developer (also known as a caller) who hosts the merchant's product pages and order pipeline. With this unique three-party transaction model, you can charge a fee to process transactions in which you are neither the buyer nor the merchant.
Amazon FPS Advanced Quick Start. Facilitates multiple or recurring payments between a buyer and a seller for e-commerce, digital content, donations, or services.
Amazon FPS Aggregated Payments Quick Start. Facilitates aggregated micro-transactions into a single, larger transaction using prepaid and postpaid capabilities.
Amazon FPS Account Management Quick Start. Access buyer and developer account activity programmatically. Alternatively, you can view account activity and balances on the Amazon Payments web site.
You can use these parts separately or in combination. They share a common WSDL and schema.
