Step 5: (Optional) Delete the Table

In this step, you delete the Movies table. This is an optional step. If you want, you can keep the Movies table and write your own programs to work with the data.

  1. Copy the following program into a file named MoviesDeleteTable.php.

    require 'vendor/autoload.php';
    use Aws\DynamoDb\Exception\DynamoDbException;
    $sdk = new Aws\Sdk([
        'endpoint'   => 'http://localhost:8000',
        'region'   => 'us-west-2',
        'version'  => 'latest'
    $dynamodb = $sdk->createDynamoDb();
    $params = [
        'TableName' => 'Movies'
    try {
        $result = $dynamodb->deleteTable($params);
        echo "Deleted table.\n";
    } catch (DynamoDbException $e) {
        echo "Unable to delete table:\n";
        echo $e->getMessage() . "\n";
  2. Type the following command to run the program:

    php MoviesDeleteTable.php
