CLI Reference

Welcome

This is the Amazon EC2 Command Line Reference. It provides descriptions, syntax, and usage examples for each of the commands for Amazon EC2 and Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC). The commands wrap the Amazon EC2 API actions.

Important

The Amazon EC2 CLI predates alternative AWS command line tools, and can only be used for Amazon EC2 and Amazon VPC resources. We recommend that you use the alternative AWS tools instead: Alternative AWS Tools.
