Getting Started with Amazon WAM

Your Amazon WorkSpaces administrator can use Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager (Amazon WAM) to deploy applications to your WorkSpace. First, your administrator assigns applications to you, known as Amazon WAM applications. Your administrator controls whether each Amazon WAM application is required or optional. The required applications are automatically installed when you connect to your WorkSpace and start the Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager client application. You must manually install the optional applications.

Important

If the Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager client application is not running on your WorkSpace, you will not be able to access your Amazon WAM applications.

To get started with Amazon WAM

  1. Connect to your WorkSpace. For more information, see the Amazon WorkSpaces User Guide.

  2. To start the Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager client application, choose the Amazon WAM shortcut on the desktop of your WorkSpace.

If this shortcut is not on your WorkSpace desktop, see Troubleshooting Amazon WAM Issues.

  3. After you start the Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager client application, you can launch the installed Amazon WAM applications using the Start menu on your WorkSpace or the Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager client application.

  4. You can install or uninstall optional applications using the Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager client application. For more information, see Using the Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager Client Application.
