Creating an AWS Account

To access any web service AWS offers, you must first create an AWS account at http://aws.amazon.com. An AWS account is simply an Amazon.com account that is enabled to use AWS products; you can use an existing Amazon.com account login and password when creating the AWS account.

From your AWS account you can view your AWS account activity, view usage reports, and manage your AWS Security Credentials.

To set up a new account

  1. Open https://aws.amazon.com/, and then choose Create an Account.

    Note

If you previously signed in to the AWS Management Console using account root user credentials, choose Sign in to a different account. If you previously signed in to the console using IAM credentials, choose Sign-in using root account credentials. Then choose Create a new account.

  2. Follow the online instructions.

Part of the sign-up procedure involves receiving a phone call and entering a verification code using the phone keypad.
