# Track your Free Tier usage

AWS Free Tier usage alerts automatically notifies you over email when you exceed 85 percent of your Free Tier limit for each service. For additional tracking, you can configure to track your usage to 100% of the Free Tier limit by setting a zero spend budget. You can also filter your budget to track individual services.

You can track your AWS Free Tier usage in the following ways.

## Using AWS Settings

You can monitor your free account plan expiration date, credit balance, and days remaining in AWS Settings. For more information, see [View and redeem credits in AWS Settings](view-redeem-credits.md). You also receive periodic email alerts regarding your credit balance and when you are approaching the end of your free account plan period.

If you have a paid plan, you can monitor your credit balance and expiration date on the credits page in AWS Settings. For more information about upgrading to a paid plan, see [Upgrade your account in AWS Settings](upgrade-account.md).

## Using the Billing and Cost Management Console

You can use the Billing and Cost Management Console to track your free tier usage across each project. The Billing and Cost Management Console shows a summary of your month-to-date usage and any service offerings at or above usage limits. For each free tier offer in use, you can view the following:
+ The service
+ The AWS Free Tier usage limit
+ Your current usage
+ Your forecasted usage
+ Your month-to-date (MTD) actual usage
+ Your forecasted month-to-date (MTD) usage

The following procedure shows you how to use the Billing and Cost Management Console to sort your Free Tier usage by your month-to-date actual usage.

**To sort your Free Tier usage**

1. Open the Billing and Cost Management console at [https://console.aws.amazon.com/cost-management/](https://console.aws.amazon.com/cost-management/).

1. Choose **Free Tier**.

1. To sort by month-to-date actual usage, choose **MTD actual usage %**.
