CreateRetrievalInstruction - Amazon Bedrock

CreateRetrievalInstruction

Creates a new retrieval instruction. The retrieval instruction is usable once its status becomes ACTIVE. Use GetRetrievalInstruction to check whether it is ready.

Request Syntax

POST /retrievalinstructions/ HTTP/1.1 Content-type: application/json { "clientToken": "string", "customerEncryptionKeyArn": "string", "description": "string", "instruction": { "answerFormat": "string", "answerPolicy": "string", "persona": "string", "retrievalGuidance": "string" }, "name": "string", "tags": { "string" : "string" } }

URI Request Parameters

The request does not use any URI parameters.

Request Body

The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

clientToken

A caller-supplied token that makes a retried create return the existing resource rather than a second one. The window is 8 hours.

Type: String

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 33. Maximum length of 256.

Pattern: [a-zA-Z0-9](-*[a-zA-Z0-9]){0,256}

Required: No

customerEncryptionKeyArn

The Amazon Resource Name (ARN) of a customer managed AWS Key Management Service (AWS KMS) key used to encrypt the instruction content at rest. If you omit it, the service uses an AWS owned key. You fix the key at create and cannot change it later.

Type: String

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 2048.

Pattern: arn:aws(|-cn|-us-gov):kms:[a-zA-Z0-9-]*:[0-9]{12}:key/[a-zA-Z0-9-]{36}

Required: No

description

Specifies a description of the retrieval instruction.

Type: String

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 200.

Required: No

instruction

The instruction content, as a set of named fields. Get does not return this field until the create review passes.

Type: RetrievalInstructionContent object

Required: Yes

name

Specifies the name of the retrieval instruction.

Response Elements

If the action is successful, the service sends back an HTTP 202 response.

The following data is returned in JSON format by the service.

createdAt

When you created the retrieval instruction.

Type: Timestamp

lastTransitionStatus

Always CREATING on this response. Poll GetRetrievalInstruction until this member is neither CREATING nor UPDATING, then read the outcome from it.

Type: String

Valid Values: CREATING | UPDATING | CREATE_SUCCESSFUL | CREATE_FAILED | UPDATE_SUCCESSFUL | UPDATE_FAILED

name

The name of the retrieval instruction.

Type: String

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 100.

Pattern: ([0-9a-zA-Z][_-]?){1,100}

retrievalInstructionArn

The ARN of the newly created retrieval instruction.

Type: String

Pattern: arn:aws(-cn|-us-gov|-eusc|-iso(-[b-f])?)?:bedrock:[a-z0-9-]{1,20}:[0-9]{12}:retrieval-instruction/[a-z0-9]{10}

retrievalInstructionId

The identifier of the newly created retrieval instruction.

Type: String

Length Constraints: Fixed length of 10.

Pattern: [a-z0-9]{10}

status

Always INACTIVE on this response. The content review has not run when this call returns, so the resource is not yet usable.

Type: String

Valid Values: ACTIVE | INACTIVE

updatedAt

When the retrieval instruction was last updated.

Type: Timestamp
