Managing Amazon DocumentDB Cluster Parameter Groups

You can manage Amazon DocumentDB engine configuration by using parameters in a cluster parameter group. Cluster parameter groups act as a container for engine configuration values that are applied to all instances in the cluster. To have custom parameter values for different clusters, create custom cluster parameter groups for different clusters.

Determining a DB Cluster's Parameter Group

This section describes how to determine what parameter group is associated with a particular cluster.

Using the AWS Management Console

The following procedure describes how to determine which parameter group is governing a cluster.

To determine a cluster's parameter group

  1. Open the Amazon DocumentDB console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/docdb.

  2. In the left navigation pane, choose Clusters.

  3. From the list of clusters, choose the name of the cluster you are interested in.

  4. Scroll down to Cluster details, then at the bottom of that section locate the parameter group's name below Cluster parameter group.

Using the AWS CLI

The following AWS CLI code determines which parameter group is governing the cluster sample-cluster.

aws docdb describe-db-clusters \ --db-cluster-identifier sample-cluster \ --query 'DBClusters[*].[DBClusterIdentifier,DBClusterParameterGroup]'

Output from this operation looks something like the following (JSON format).

[ [ "sample-cluster", "custom3-6-param-grp" ] ]
