Release: Elastic Beanstalk Amazon Linux 2 platform updates on October 6, 2020

This release provides new versions for AWS Elastic Beanstalk platforms based on Amazon Linux 2. The release includes security updates. It also includes new Docker Compose functionality, and Go, Tomcat, .NET Core, Node.js, PHP, Python, and Ruby updates.

Security updates

Applied all security updates published in the Amazon Linux Security Center on or before September 30, 2020 to all Amazon Linux 2 platforms.

The Apache, .NET Core, PHP, and Python releases include security fixes. For more information, see Cross-platform updates and Platform-specific updates in this table.

Docker

** New! **

Added support for multiple containers in a single Amazon Linux 2 Docker environment. This is similar to the functionality provided by the Multicontainer Docker platform, which only supports Amazon Linux AMI. In addition, as opposed to the Multicontainer Docker platform, the new Docker platform functionality can build multiple local images. To implement all of this in Amazon Linux 2, we added Docker Compose functionality to the main Docker platform.

Go

Updated Go to release 1.15.2. For details, see go1.15 in The Go Programming Language Release History.

Tomcat

Updated Tomcat 8.5 to Tomcat 8.5.57.

.NET Core

Updated .NET Core 3.1 to version 3.1.8.

Updated .NET Core 2.1 to version 2.1.22.

Both releases include security fixes.

PHP

Updated PHP 7.4, 7.3, and 7.2 to releases 7.4.9, 7.3.21, and 7.2.33, respectively.

All three releases include security fixes.

Python

Updated Python 3.7 to Python 3.7.9.

The Python 3.7.9 release includes security fixes.

Ruby

Updated Puma to version 4.3.6.
