Release: Elastic Beanstalk Amazon Linux 2023 platform updates on October 8, 2026

This release provides new versions for AWS Elastic Beanstalk platforms based on Amazon Linux 2023. The release includes security updates. It also includes AMI, nginx, CloudWatch Agent, Docker, ECS based Docker, Corretto, Node.js, PHP, Python, and Ruby updates.

Be aware that at the time these release notes are published, the new platform versions might not yet be available in all the AWS Regions that Elastic Beanstalk supports. It might take a few hours for the release to complete.

Security updates

Applied all security updates published in the Amazon Linux Security Center on or before September 30, 2026 to all AL2023 platforms.

Cross-platform updates

Made these cross-platform updates:

Component Update

AMI

Updated the base AMI to version 2023.12.20260930.

nginx

Updated nginx to version 1.30.5 on all platforms that use it.

CloudWatch Agent

Updated CloudWatch Agent to version 1.300071.0 on the Go, Node.js, PHP, and Ruby platforms.

Platform-specific updates

Made these platform-specific updates:

Platform Update

Docker

Updated Docker Compose to version 5.6.0.

ECS based Docker

Updated ECS Agent to version 1.107.0.

Corretto

  • Updated Maven to version 3.10.0 for all Corretto platform branches.

  • Updated Gradle to version 9.8.0 (Corretto 25, 21, 17).

Node.js

Updated Node.js 22 to version 22.23.3 (npm 10.9.9).

PHP

  • Updated PHP 8.5 to version 8.5.11.

  • Updated PHP 8.4 to version 8.4.26.

  • Updated PIE (PHP Installer for Extensions) to version 1.5.1 for all PHP platform branches.

Python

  • Updated Python 3.14 to version 3.14.8.

  • Updated Python 3.13 to version 3.13.16.

  • Updated Python 3.12 to version 3.12.15.

Ruby

Updated Ruby 3.4 to version 3.4.11.

Additional changes with this release

  • Elastic Beanstalk now logs a warning when a custom AMI was created from an older platform version than the one being deployed. To clear the warning, recreate the custom AMI from the current platform version.

  • Fixed an issue in worker environments where the SQS daemon could use expired credentials, causing intermittent ExpiredToken errors and missed periodic tasks.
