Release: Elastic Beanstalk Amazon Linux 2023 platform updates on October 20, 2026

This release provides new versions for AWS Elastic Beanstalk platforms based on Amazon Linux 2023. The release includes security updates. It also includes AMI, Apache, ECS based Docker, Corretto, Tomcat, .NET Core, Node.js, PHP, and Python updates.

Note

Be aware that at the time these release notes are published, the new platform versions might not yet be available in all the AWS Regions that Elastic Beanstalk supports. It might take a few hours for the release to complete.

Security updates

Applied all security updates published in the Amazon Linux Security Center on or before October 16, 2026 to all AL2023 platforms.

AMI

Updated the base AMI to version 2023.12.20261016.

Apache

Updated Apache to version 2.4.69 on all platforms that use it.

Updated ECS Agent to version 1.108.0.

Corretto

Tomcat

  • Updated Tomcat 11 to version 11.0.27.

  • Updated Tomcat 10 to version 10.1.61.

  • Updated Tomcat 9 to version 9.0.123 for the Corretto 8 platform branch, and to version 9.0.122 for the Corretto 17 and Corretto 11 platform branches.

.NET Core

  • Updated .NET 10 to version 10.0.13.

  • Updated .NET 9 to version 9.0.21.

  • Updated .NET 8 to version 8.0.32.

Node.js

Updated Node.js 24 to version 24.22.0 (npm 11.19.1).

PHP

  • Updated PHP 8.3 to version 8.3.35.

  • Updated PHP 8.2 to version 8.2.34.

  • Updated PIE (PHP Installer for Extensions) to version 1.5.2 for all PHP platform branches.

Python

Updated pipenv to version 2026.10.1.

Additional changes with this release

On custom AMIs that aren't based on an Elastic Beanstalk platform AMI and boot with SELinux in enforcing mode, Elastic Beanstalk now configures SELinux so that the proxy server can connect to your application. Default platform behavior is unchanged.
