Release: Elastic Beanstalk Amazon Linux 2023 platform updates on October 27, 2026

This release provides new versions for AWS Elastic Beanstalk platforms based on Amazon Linux 2023. The release includes security updates. It also includes AMI, nginx, X-Ray daemon, Docker, ECS based Docker, Corretto, Go, .NET Core, Node.js, PHP, Python, and Ruby updates. This release introduces new platform branches for Node.js 26 and Python 3.15 on AL2023.

To update your environments to the new platform versions, see Updating your Elastic Beanstalk environment's platform version in the AWS Elastic Beanstalk Developer Guide. If you've turned on managed platform updates, Elastic Beanstalk applies the new platform versions to your environments during their weekly maintenance window.

Note

Be aware that at the time these release notes are published, the new platform versions might not yet be available in all the AWS Regions that Elastic Beanstalk supports. It might take a few hours for the release to complete.

**New!** — Introduced a new Node.js 26 platform branch running Node.js version 26.12.1 with npm 11.20.0.

PHP

Updated PIE (PHP Installer for Extensions) to version 1.5.3 for the PHP 8.5 and PHP 8.4 platform branches.

  • **New!** — Introduced a new Python 3.15 platform branch running Python version 3.15.2.

  • Updated Python 3.14 to version 3.14.10.

  • Updated Python 3.13 to version 3.13.18.

  • Updated Python 3.12 to version 3.12.16.

  • Updated Python 3.11 to version 3.11.17.

  • Updated pip to version 26.2.2.

  • Updated pipenv to version 2026.10.3.

Ruby

Additional changes with this release

  • When an instance launches from an AMI that already has the platform engine for the platform version being deployed, Elastic Beanstalk no longer downloads and reinstalls the platform engine.

  • With instance log streaming turned on, the CloudWatch agent now creates each instance's log streams instead of Elastic Beanstalk creating them during deployment. Each log stream is created when its log file is first written, so log files that are never written no longer get an empty log stream. This can help prevent CloudWatch Logs throttling when you deploy to large batches of instances at once.
