Amazon EMR endpoints and quotas - AWS General Reference

Amazon EMR endpoints and quotas

The following are the service endpoints and service quotas for this service. To connect programmatically to an AWS service, you use an endpoint. In addition to the standard AWS endpoints, some AWS services offer FIPS endpoints in selected Regions. For more information, see AWS service endpoints. Service quotas, also referred to as limits, are the maximum number of service resources or operations for your AWS account. For more information, see AWS service quotas.

If you specify the general endpoint (elasticmapreduce.amazonaws.com), Amazon EMR directs your request to an endpoint in the default Region. For accounts created on or after March 8, 2013, the default Region is us-west-2; for older accounts, the default Region is us-east-1.

For information about using Amazon EMR in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) Region, see AWS GovCloud (US-West) Endpoints.

For information about using Amazon EMR in the China Regions, see:

Amazon EMR throttles the following API requests for each AWS account on a per-Region basis. For more information about how throttling is applied, see API Request Throttling in the Amazon EC2 API Reference. You can request an increase to API throttling quotas for your AWS account. To request a quota adjustment, create a case using the AWS Support Center.
