AWS GovCloud (US) Administrator Account Password Reset

If you’ve lost access to your AWS GovCloud (US) account, please review the following options:

  • Use AWS GovCloud (US) access keys that have appropriate permissions to call AWS API operations or CLI commands to reset your IAM user account.

  • Use an alternate IAM account or user with appropriate privileges to change your account password. For more information, see Managing passwords for IAM users.

  • If you have AWS Organizations set up inside of GovCloud and with the appropriate access, you can assume a role into the child account to change the user or admins password. For more information, see Accessing and administering the member accounts in your organization.

If you do not have access to any AWS GovCloud (US) access keys or other IAM account with appropriate permissions, you can contact AWS Support through the linked AWS standard account. After you prove your account ownership, AWS Support will deliver new AWS GovCloud (US) user access keys to you through a secure process. You will need to provide the following information to AWS Support:

  • AWS GovCloud (US) account number

  • AWS GovCloud (US) account email address

  • Name of AWS GovCloud (US) account owner (first and last)

  • AWS GovCloud (US) account contact address

  • Company name

Note: This process may take 2-3 weeks to complete.
