AWS Auto Scaling

With AWS Auto Scaling, you can quickly discover the scalable AWS resources for your application and set up dynamic scaling. It uses Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling to scale your EC2 instances and Application Auto Scaling to scale resources from other services.

The following list details the differences for using this service in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions compared to other AWS Regions:

  • The AWS Auto Scaling console is not available.

  • The AWS Auto Scaling API and command line interface (CLI) are not available.

  • The Application Auto Scaling API and CLI are available.

  • Application Auto Scaling can scale the following resources in AWS GovCloud (US):

    • Amazon ECS services

    • Amazon DynamoDB tables and global secondary indexes

    • Amazon EMR clusters

    • Amazon Aurora Replicas

  • Scaling Spot Fleet requests is not currently supported in AWS GovCloud (US).

  • Because some services are not available in AWS GovCloud (US), Application Auto Scaling in AWS GovCloud (US) does not support scaling the following resources:

    • AppStream 2.0 fleets

    • Amazon SageMaker endpoint variants

    • Custom resources provided by your own applications or services

For more information about anything in this list, see the documentation for the specific service at AWS Documentation. For information about scaling Amazon EC2 instances in AWS GovCloud (US), see Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling in this guide.

For more information about AWS Auto Scaling and Application Auto Scaling, see AWS Auto Scaling Documentation.
