ITAR Boundary

AWS GovCloud (US) has an ITAR boundary, which defines where customers are allowed to store ITAR-controlled data for this service in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) Region. To maintain ITAR compliance, you must place ITAR-controlled data on the applicable part of the ITAR boundary. If you do not have any ITAR-controlled data in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) Region, this section does not apply to you. The following information identifies the ITAR boundary for this service:

ITAR-Regulated Data Permitted ITAR-Regulated Data Not Permitted
  • AWS does not attest to compliance of Independent Software Vendor (ISV) solutions implemented on AWS services regarding any state, federal, regulatory or industry-specific security controls, baselines, laws, standards or regimes - including ITAR. Pursuant to AWS GovCloud (US-West) Terms and Conditions, it is the customer's responsibility to use the software appropriately and in accordance with applicable requirements, including ITAR.

    • ISVs may communicate whether their solution meets compliance requirements when they market their offering. Customers are responsible for verifying that their software meets applicable requirements.

  • All AWS Marketplace software in AWS GovCloud (US-West) is operated on the same infrastructure as other AWS GovCloud (US-West) resources. This results in the software being deployed to Amazon EC2 and other AWS services managed by US Citizens to help customers maintain compliance with applicable requirements, including ITAR.
