# UntagResource


Removes the given tags (metadata) from the resource.

Requires permission to access the [UntagResource](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/service-authorization/latest/reference/list_awsiot.html#awsiot-actions-as-permissions) action.

## Request Syntax

```

## URI Request Parameters


The request does not use any URI parameters.

## Request Body


The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

 ** [resourceArn](#API_UntagResource_RequestSyntax) **   <a name="iot-UntagResource-request-resourceArn"></a>
The ARN of the resource.  
Type: String  
Required: Yes

 ** [tagKeys](#API_UntagResource_RequestSyntax) **   <a name="iot-UntagResource-request-tagKeys"></a>
A list of the keys of the tags to be removed from the resource.  
Type: Array of strings  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 128.  
Pattern: `^([\p{L}\p{Z}\p{N}_.:/=+\-@]*)$`   
Required: Yes

## Response Syntax

HTTP/1.1 200
```

## Response Elements


If the action is successful, the service sends back an HTTP 200 response with an empty HTTP body.

An unexpected error has occurred.

The request is not valid.

The rate exceeds the limit.
