# Managing agreement renewals
<a name="managing-agreement-renewals"></a>

Agreements created from a private offer with renewal terms renew automatically at their end date unless the seller or buyer opts out. Use the **Agreements** page and the agreement's **Renewal details** tab to monitor and manage renewals.

Two columns on the **Agreements** page describe renewal state:
+ **At expiration** – what happens when the agreement reaches its end date: **Auto-renews**, **Converts to public offer**, or **Access ends**.
+ **Renewal status** – **Auto-renewing**, **Opted out** (you turned off auto-renewal), **Buyer opted out**, **No renewal terms**, or **Renewal limit reached**.

Perpetual agreements have no end date, so they show no expiration and no renewal status.

Open an agreement and choose the **Renewal details** tab to review the terms for the next cycle: renewal pricing (same price or an uplift), price uplift (percentage or range), renewal maximum, renewal decision deadline, default uplift percentage and adjustment deadline (percentage range), and final uplift value (**Pending** until set).

From the **Renewal details** tab you can finalize the uplift percentage and opt out of auto-renewal. Seller opt-out is a one-time action that can't be reversed; it stops the renewal and notifies the buyer. Buyers, by contrast, can opt in and out until the renewal decision deadline. Once you opt out, the buyer can't opt back in – they see **Seller opted out** and must request a new offer. You can opt out any time before the renewal decision deadline. After the renewal decision deadline, you can no longer opt out of auto-renewal.

The **Renewal history** tab traces every offer and agreement in the renewal chain, in order – past cycles and the next projected cycle.
