# Linking AWS Partner Central and AWS accounts
<a name="account-linking"></a>

**Why account linking?**
AWS updated the [APN fee policy](https://partnercentral.awspartner.com/partnercentral2/s/newsletter?url=APN-Fee-Requirement-Changes-for-2025) and launched the new [AWS Partner Central in the AWS Console](https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/whats-new/2025/11/aws-partner-central-available-management-console/) on the AWS website. Both changes require an AWS account, which legacy AWS Partner Central does not support.

To continue your partnership with AWS, link an AWS account to the new AWS Partner Central and complete migration.

**Who needs to complete account linking?**
If your company accesses legacy AWS Partner Central using company email credentials (rather than an AWS account), you must complete account linking and migration.

If your company registered directly on the new AWS Partner Central with an AWS account (12-digit ID) and does not have legacy AWS Partner Central access, you do not need to complete account linking.

**What is account linking?**
Account linking connects your legacy AWS Partner Central identity to a specific AWS account. This process is different from linking an AWS account to your AWS Organization or creating a new member account under a management account.

**Important**
After you migrate to the new AWS Partner Central in the AWS Console, your linked account is permanent. Before migration, you can unlink your account and relink a different one. After migration, you cannot change the linked account.
