Synopsis

Calls the Amazon Kinesis DescribeStreamSummary API operation.

Description

Provides a summarized description of the specified Kinesis data stream without the shard list. When invoking this API, you must use either the StreamARN or the StreamName parameter, or both. It is recommended that you use the StreamARN input parameter when you invoke this API. The information returned includes the stream name, Amazon Resource Name (ARN), status, record retention period, approximate creation time, monitoring, encryption details, and open shard count. DescribeStreamSummary has a limit of 20 transactions per second per account.

Changes the cmdlet behavior to return the value passed to the StreamName parameter. The -PassThru parameter is deprecated, use -Select '^StreamName' instead. This parameter will be removed in a future version.

Use the -Select parameter to control the cmdlet output. The default value is 'StreamDescriptionSummary'. Specifying -Select '*' will result in the cmdlet returning the whole service response (Amazon.Kinesis.Model.DescribeStreamSummaryResponse). Specifying the name of a property of type Amazon.Kinesis.Model.DescribeStreamSummaryResponse will result in that property being returned. Specifying -Select '^ParameterName' will result in the cmdlet returning the selected cmdlet parameter value.

This cmdlet returns an Amazon.Kinesis.Model.StreamDescriptionSummary object. The service call response (type Amazon.Kinesis.Model.DescribeStreamSummaryResponse) can also be referenced from properties attached to the cmdlet entry in the $AWSHistory stack.
