-ClientConfig <AmazonBedrockRuntimeConfig>

Description

Returns the token count for a given inference request. This operation helps you estimate token usage before sending requests to foundation models by returning the token count that would be used if the same input were sent to the model in an inference request. Token counting is model-specific because different models use different tokenization strategies. The token count returned by this operation will match the token count that would be charged if the same input were sent to the model in an InvokeModel or Converse request. You can use this operation to:
  • Estimate costs before sending inference requests.
  • Optimize prompts to fit within token limits.
  • Plan for token usage in your applications.
This operation accepts the same input formats as InvokeModel and Converse, allowing you to count tokens for both raw text inputs and structured conversation formats. The following operations are related to CountTokens:
  • InvokeModel - Sends inference requests to foundation models
  • Converse - Sends conversation-based inference requests to foundation models

Parameters

Amazon.PowerShell.Cmdlets.BDRR.AmazonBedrockRuntimeClientCmdlet.ClientConfig
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Converse_AdditionalModelRequestField <PSObject>
The additionalModelRequestFields of Converse input request to count tokens for. Use this field when you want to pass additional parameters that the model supports.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesInput_Converse_AdditionalModelRequestFields
-Converse_Message <Message[]>
An array of messages to count tokens for. Starting with version 4 of the SDK this property will default to null. If no data for this property is returned from the service the property will also be null. This was changed to improve performance and allow the SDK and caller to distinguish between a property not set or a property being empty to clear out a value. To retain the previous SDK behavior set the AWSConfigs.InitializeCollections static property to true.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesInput_Converse_Messages
-Converse_System <SystemContentBlock[]>
The system content blocks to count tokens for. System content provides instructions or context to the model about how it should behave or respond. The token count will include any system content provided.
AliasesInput_Converse_System
-InvokeModel_Body <Byte[]>
The request body to count tokens for, formatted according to the model's expected input format. To learn about the input format for different models, see Model inference parameters and responses. The cmdlet will automatically convert the supplied parameter of type string, string[], System.IO.FileInfo or System.IO.Stream to byte[] before supplying it to the service.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesInput_InvokeModel_Body
-ModelId <String>
The unique identifier or ARN of the foundation model to use for token counting. Each model processes tokens differently, so the token count is specific to the model you specify.
Required?True
Position?1
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-Select <String>
Use the -Select parameter to control the cmdlet output. The default value is 'InputTokens'. Specifying -Select '*' will result in the cmdlet returning the whole service response (Amazon.BedrockRuntime.Model.CountTokensResponse). Specifying the name of a property of type Amazon.BedrockRuntime.Model.CountTokensResponse will result in that property being returned. Specifying -Select '^ParameterName' will result in the cmdlet returning the selected cmdlet parameter value.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Tool_Name <String>
The name of the tool that the model must request.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesInput_Converse_ToolConfig_ToolChoice_Tool_Name
-ToolChoice_Any <AnyToolChoice>
The model must request at least one tool (no text is generated).
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesInput_Converse_ToolConfig_ToolChoice_Any
-ToolChoice_Auto <AutoToolChoice>
(Default). The Model automatically decides if a tool should be called or whether to generate text instead.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesInput_Converse_ToolConfig_ToolChoice_Auto
-ToolConfig_Tool <Tool[]>
An array of tools that you want to pass to a model.
AliasesInput_Converse_ToolConfig_Tools

Common Credential and Region Parameters

-AccessKey <String>
The AWS access key for the user account. This can be a temporary access key if the corresponding session token is supplied to the -SessionToken parameter.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesAK
-Credential <AWSCredentials>
An AWSCredentials object instance containing access and secret key information, and optionally a token for session-based credentials.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-EndpointUrl <String>
The endpoint to make the call against.Note: This parameter is primarily for internal AWS use and is not required/should not be specified for normal usage. The cmdlets normally determine which endpoint to call based on the region specified to the -Region parameter or set as default in the shell (via Set-DefaultAWSRegion). Only specify this parameter if you must direct the call to a specific custom endpoint.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-NetworkCredential <PSCredential>
Used with SAML-based authentication when ProfileName references a SAML role profile. Contains the network credentials to be supplied during authentication with the configured identity provider's endpoint. This parameter is not required if the user's default network identity can or should be used during authentication.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-ProfileLocation <String>
Used to specify the name and location of the ini-format credential file (shared with the AWS CLI and other AWS SDKs)If this optional parameter is omitted this cmdlet will search the encrypted credential file used by the AWS SDK for .NET and AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio first. If the profile is not found then the cmdlet will search in the ini-format credential file at the default location: (user's home directory)\.aws\credentials.If this parameter is specified then this cmdlet will only search the ini-format credential file at the location given. As the current folder can vary in a shell or during script execution it is advised that you use specify a fully qualified path instead of a relative path.
