Creates a new group.

The number and size of IAM resources in an AWS account are limited. For more information, see IAM and STS Quotas in the IAM User Guide.

For .NET Core this operation is only available in asynchronous form. Please refer to CreateGroupAsync.

Parameters
request
Type: Amazon.IdentityManagement.Model.CreateGroupRequest

Container for the necessary parameters to execute the CreateGroup service method.

Return Value
The response from the CreateGroup service method, as returned by IdentityManagementService.

Exceptions

ExceptionCondition
EntityAlreadyExistsException The request was rejected because it attempted to create a resource that already exists.
LimitExceededException The request was rejected because it attempted to create resources beyond the current AWS account limitations. The error message describes the limit exceeded.
NoSuchEntityException The request was rejected because it referenced a resource entity that does not exist. The error message describes the resource.
ServiceFailureException The request processing has failed because of an unknown error, exception or failure.

Examples

The following command creates an IAM group named Admins.

To create an IAM group
