Creates a new role for your AWS account. For more information about roles, go to Working with Roles. For information about limitations on role names and the number of roles you can create, go to Limitations on IAM Entities in the IAM User Guide.


For .NET Core, PCL and Unity this operation is only available in asynchronous form. Please refer to CreateRoleAsync.

Container for the necessary parameters to execute the CreateRole service method.

Return Value
The response from the CreateRole service method, as returned by IdentityManagementService.


EntityAlreadyExistsException The request was rejected because it attempted to create a resource that already exists.
InvalidInputException The request was rejected because an invalid or out-of-range value was supplied for an input parameter.
LimitExceededException The request was rejected because it attempted to create resources beyond the current AWS account limits. The error message describes the limit exceeded.
MalformedPolicyDocumentException The request was rejected because the policy document was malformed. The error message describes the specific error.
ServiceFailureException The request processing has failed because of an unknown error, exception or failure.


The following command creates a role named Test-Role and attaches a trust policy to it that is provided as a URL-encoded JSON string.

To create an IAM role
