Creates a thing record in the registry. If this call is made multiple times using the same thing name and configuration, the call will succeed. If this call is made with the same thing name but different configuration a ResourceAlreadyExistsException is thrown.

This is a control plane operation. See Authorization for information about authorizing control plane actions.

Requires permission to access the CreateThing action.

Note:

This is an asynchronous operation using the standard naming convention for .NET 4.5 or higher. For .NET 3.5 the operation is implemented as a pair of methods using the standard naming convention of BeginCreateThing and EndCreateThing.

Parameters

request
Type: Amazon.IoT.Model.CreateThingRequest

Container for the necessary parameters to execute the CreateThing service method.

cancellationToken
Type: System.Threading.CancellationToken

A cancellation token that can be used by other objects or threads to receive notice of cancellation.

Return Value


The response from the CreateThing service method, as returned by IoT.

Exceptions

ExceptionCondition
InternalFailureException An unexpected error has occurred.
InvalidRequestException The request is not valid.
ResourceAlreadyExistsException The resource already exists.
ResourceNotFoundException The specified resource does not exist.
ServiceUnavailableException The service is temporarily unavailable.
ThrottlingException The rate exceeds the limit.
UnauthorizedException You are not authorized to perform this operation.
