End of Life FAQs

Important

Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager (Amazon WAM) is reaching end of life and will no longer be available starting on September 1, 2023 — the End of Life (EOL) date. As a current subscriber, your existing subscription and packages will be unaffected until the EOL date, but new subscriptions to Amazon WAM and Marketplace applications, and upgrades to the Amazon WAM Standard subscription are no longer available.

What will happen to existing WorkSpaces users who are subscribed to Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager (WAM)?

AWS will support existing Amazon WAM users until the End of Life (EOL) date.

What are alternatives to Amazon WAM for managing applications on Amazon WorkSpaces?

AWS has partnered with Numecent to migrate your Amazon WAM applications to Numecent Cloudpager automatically. Cloudpager is available in the AWS Marketplace. With Numecent Cloudpager, you will be able to continue using your Amazon WAM applications and deliver them to Amazon WorkSpaces. See the Numecent press release for more information. To request automated migration of your Amazon WAM applications to use with Numecent Cloudpager, contact AWS Premium Support. Your AWS account must be subscribed to a Premium Support plan to request automated migration. For more information, see AWS Support Plans.

Will I be able to export my application packages from Amazon WAM before the EOL date?

Yes, contact AWS Premium Support to make this request. Your AWS account must be subscribed to a Premium Support plan to request export. For more information, see AWS Support Plans.

Will Amazon WAM be accepting new customers?

New customers are no longer able to subscribe to either Amazon WAM Lite nor Amazon WAM Standard subscriptions.

Will Amazon WAM reach EOL in all available regions?

Yes. For a list of AWS regions where Amazon WAM is available, please visit the Region Table.

I am an existing Amazon WAM customer. Will I be able to package applications?

You will be able to create new application packages or modify existing application packages using Amazon WAM Studio until the EOL date. For more details, see Package an Application with Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager Studio

I am an existing Amazon WAM customer. Can I still assign applications to users?

You will be able to continue assigning applications to new or existing users until the EOL date.

What level of technical support is available for Amazon WAM?

Until the EOL date, AWS will provide technical support for issues raised regarding building application catalog, validating application packages, updating application packages, assigning applications to users and groups, and setting up the Amazon WAM installer and accessing assigned applications. Will I be able to delete my application packages?

Yes. You will be able to remove all the application assignments, disassociate your directory, and manually delete application packages, applications, and their versions.

Can I unsubscribe from Amazon WAM?

Amazon WAM does not have an "unsubscribe" feature. However, Amazon WAM Standard customers will continue to be able to downgrade to Amazon WAM Lite, which is offered at no charge prior to the EOL date.

Will there be any feature changes for Amazon WAM Lite or Amazon WAM Standard?

There will not be any feature changes to Amazon WAM Lite or Amazon WAM Standard. On the Subscription plan page of the service console, you can continue to view the feature details for the two subscription plans. New customers are no longer able to subscribe to Amazon WAM Lite or Amazon WAM Standard subscriptions.

I am an existing Amazon WAM Standard plan customer. Will I be billed for Amazon WAM?

Billing for Amazon WAM Standard will continue for existing customers until the EOL date. You can discontinue using Amazon WAM at any time.

Will I be able to use the AWS Marketplace?

You are no longer able to subscribe to new desktop applications or receive new product updates for existing applications through the AWS Marketplace catalog. Existing desktop application subscriptions from AWS Marketplace will continue to work until the EOL date. However, applications will no longer receive version updates.
