The Operational Excellence Pillar whitepaper contains broader design principles and recommendations which we highly recommend you read in conjunction with the SAP guidance that follows. The design principles and best practices included here are a subset of those in the Operational Excellence Pillar, and have been enhanced with SAP-specific implementation guidance and suggestions.
