Release: Elastic Beanstalk Amazon Linux 2023 platform updates on September 24, 2026

This release provides new versions for AWS Elastic Beanstalk platforms based on Amazon Linux 2023. The release includes security updates. It also includes AMI, ECS based Docker, Go, Tomcat, Node.js, PHP, and Ruby updates.

Note

Be aware that at the time these release notes are published, the new platform versions might not yet be available in all the AWS Regions that Elastic Beanstalk supports. It might take a few hours for the release to complete.

Applied all security updates published in the Amazon Linux Security Center on or before September 18, 2026 to all AL2023 platforms.

ECS based Docker

Updated ECS Agent to version 1.106.2.

Go

Updated Go to version 1.26.8.

Tomcat

  • Updated Tomcat 11 to version 11.0.26.

  • Updated Tomcat 10 to version 10.1.60.

  • Updated Tomcat 9 to version 9.0.122 for the Corretto 8 platform branch. The Corretto 11 and Corretto 17 Tomcat 9 branches remain on 9.0.121.

Node.js

Updated Node.js 24 to version 24.21.0 (npm 11.19.0).

PHP

Updated PIE (PHP Installer for Extensions) to version 1.5.0 for all PHP platform branches.

Ruby

  • Updated Ruby 4.0 to version 4.0.7 (RubyGems 4.0.20).

  • Ruby 4.0 now includes Bundler 4.0.20. Beginning with Bundler 4.0.19, bundle install fails instead of warning when your Gemfile.lock needs an update and Bundler is running in deployment mode, which is the default. Deployments that previously continued with a warning now fail with the following event.

    Instance deployment: Your 'Gemfile.lock' needs an update but can't be updated because Bundler is running in deployment mode. Regenerate 'Gemfile.lock' with Bundler and redeploy, or set 'BUNDLER_DEPLOYMENT_MODE=false'. The deployment failed.

    To resolve this, regenerate Gemfile.lock with Bundler and redeploy, or set the BUNDLER_DEPLOYMENT_MODE environment property to false. Ruby 3.3 and Ruby 3.4 aren't affected.
