To attach a volume to an instance

This example command attaches a volume (vol-1234567890abcdef0) to an instance (i-01474ef662b89480) as /dev/sdf.

Command:

<userinput>aws ec2 attach-volume --volume-id <replaceable>vol-1234567890abcdef0</replaceable> --instance-id <replaceable>i-01474ef662b89480</replaceable> --device <replaceable>/dev/sdf</replaceable></userinput>
