AWS Mainframe Modernization availability change

AWS Mainframe Modernization Service (Managed Runtime Environment experience) will stop accepting new customers on November 7, 2025, while existing customers can continue using the service with no disruption to their ongoing modernization projects. This service provides both managed and self-managed versions of third-party software solution Rocket for replatforming. This service availability change impacts the Managed version only. New projects will be directed to the self-managed version.

While we will not be adding new features to the service, we remain committed to providing security updates and maintaining service availability to ensure ongoing modernization projects continue to run smoothly. Our focus is on ensuring a stable environment for existing customers to complete their mainframe modernization initiatives while preparing for the transition to the self-managed version.

AWS Mainframe Modernization Service (Self-Managed Experience) is our recommended solution that provides the same core functionality for mainframe modernization.
