Synopsis

Calls the AWS Config ListDiscoveredResources API operation.

Description

Returns a list of resource resource identifiers for the specified resource types for the resources of that type. A resource identifier includes the resource type, ID, and (if available) the custom resource name. The results consist of resources that Config has discovered, including those that Config is not currently recording. You can narrow the results to include only resources that have specific resource IDs or a resource name. You can specify either resource IDs or a resource name, but not both, in the same request. CloudFormation stack recording behavior in Config When a CloudFormation stack fails to create (for example, it enters the ROLLBACK_FAILED state), Config does not record a configuration item (CI) for that stack. Configuration items are only recorded for stacks that reach the following states:
  • CREATE_COMPLETE
  • UPDATE_COMPLETE
  • UPDATE_ROLLBACK_COMPLETE
  • UPDATE_ROLLBACK_FAILED
  • DELETE_FAILED
  • DELETE_COMPLETE
Because no CI is created for a failed stack creation, you won't see configuration history for that stack in Config, even after the stack is deleted. This helps make sure that Config only tracks resources that were successfully provisioned.

This cmdlet automatically pages all available results to the pipeline - parameters related to iteration are only needed if you want to manually control the paginated output. To disable autopagination, use -NoAutoIteration.

-Limit <Int32>
The maximum number of resource identifiers returned on each page. The default is 100. You cannot specify a number greater than 100. If you specify 0, Config uses the default.
Note: In AWSPowerShell and AWSPowerShell.NetCore this parameter is used to limit the total number of items returned by the cmdlet.
In AWS.Tools this parameter is simply passed to the service to specify how many items should be returned by each service call.
Pipe the output of this cmdlet into Select-Object -First to terminate retrieving data pages early and control the number of items returned.

-NextToken <String>
The nextToken string returned on a previous page that you use to get the next page of results in a paginated response.
Note: This parameter is only used if you are manually controlling output pagination of the service API call.
'NextToken' is only returned by the cmdlet when '-Select *' is specified. In order to manually control output pagination, set '-NextToken' to null for the first call then set the 'NextToken' using the same property output from the previous call for subsequent calls.

By default the cmdlet will auto-iterate and retrieve all results to the pipeline by performing multiple service calls. If set, the cmdlet will retrieve only the next 'page' of results using the value of NextToken as the start point.

-ResourceId <String[]>
The IDs of only those resources that you want Config to list in the response. If you do not specify this parameter, Config lists all resources of the specified type that it has discovered. You can list a minimum of 1 resourceID and a maximum of 20 resourceIds. Starting with version 4 of the SDK this property will default to null. If no data for this property is returned from the service the property will also be null. This was changed to improve performance and allow the SDK and caller to distinguish between a property not set or a property being empty to clear out a value. To retain the previous SDK behavior set the AWSConfigs.InitializeCollections static property to true.

Use the -Select parameter to control the cmdlet output. The default value is 'ResourceIdentifiers'. Specifying -Select '*' will result in the cmdlet returning the whole service response (Amazon.ConfigService.Model.ListDiscoveredResourcesResponse). Specifying the name of a property of type Amazon.ConfigService.Model.ListDiscoveredResourcesResponse will result in that property being returned. Specifying -Select '^ParameterName' will result in the cmdlet returning the selected cmdlet parameter value.

This cmdlet returns a collection of Amazon.ConfigService.Model.ResourceIdentifier objects. The service call response (type Amazon.ConfigService.Model.ListDiscoveredResourcesResponse) can be returned by specifying '-Select *'.
