Synopsis

Calls the Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) GetBucketMetadataTableConfiguration API operation.

Description

We recommend that you retrieve your S3 Metadata configurations by using the V2 GetBucketMetadataTableConfiguration API operation. We no longer recommend using the V1 GetBucketMetadataTableConfiguration API operation. If you created your S3 Metadata configuration before July 15, 2025, we recommend that you delete and re-create your configuration by using CreateBucketMetadataConfiguration so that you can expire journal table records and create a live inventory table. Retrieves the V1 S3 Metadata configuration for a general purpose bucket. For more information, see Accelerating data discovery with S3 Metadata in the Amazon S3 User Guide. You can use the V2 GetBucketMetadataConfiguration API operation with V1 or V2 metadata table configurations. However, if you try to use the V1 GetBucketMetadataTableConfiguration API operation with V2 configurations, you will receive an HTTP 405 Method Not Allowed error. Make sure that you update your processes to use the new V2 API operations (CreateBucketMetadataConfiguration, GetBucketMetadataConfiguration, and DeleteBucketMetadataConfiguration) instead of the V1 API operations.
Permissions
To use this operation, you must have the s3:GetBucketMetadataTableConfiguration permission. For more information, see Setting up permissions for configuring metadata tables in the Amazon S3 User Guide.

S3 requests can be performed using one of two URI styles: Virtual or Path. When using Virtual style, the bucket is included as part of the hostname. When using Path style the bucket is included as part of the URI path. The default value is $true when the EndpointUrl parameter is specified, $false otherwise.

Use the -Select parameter to control the cmdlet output. The default value is 'GetBucketMetadataTableConfigurationResult'. Specifying -Select '*' will result in the cmdlet returning the whole service response (Amazon.S3.Model.GetBucketMetadataTableConfigurationResponse). Specifying the name of a property of type Amazon.S3.Model.GetBucketMetadataTableConfigurationResponse will result in that property being returned. Specifying -Select '^ParameterName' will result in the cmdlet returning the selected cmdlet parameter value.

-UseAccelerateEndpoint <SwitchParameter>
Enables S3 accelerate by sending requests to the accelerate endpoint instead of the regular region endpoint. To use this feature, the bucket name must be DNS compliant and must not contain periods (.).

-UseDualstackEndpoint <SwitchParameter>
Configures the request to Amazon S3 to use the dualstack endpoint for a region. S3 supports dualstack endpoints which return both IPv6 and IPv4 values. The dualstack mode of Amazon S3 cannot be used with accelerate mode.

Used with SAML-based authentication when ProfileName references a SAML role profile. Contains the network credentials to be supplied during authentication with the configured identity provider's endpoint. This parameter is not required if the user's default network identity can or should be used during authentication.

If the profile is not found then the cmdlet will search in the ini-format credential file at the default location: (user's home directory)\.aws\credentials.If this parameter is specified then this cmdlet will only search the ini-format credential file at the location given.As the current folder can vary in a shell or during script execution it is advised that you use specify a fully qualified path instead of a relative path.

This cmdlet returns an Amazon.S3.Model.GetBucketMetadataTableConfigurationResult object. The service call response (type Amazon.S3.Model.GetBucketMetadataTableConfigurationResponse) can be returned by specifying '-Select *'.
