Synopsis

Calls the AWS Identity and Access Management DetachUserPolicy API operation.

Description

Removes the specified managed policy from the specified user. A user can also have inline policies embedded with it. To delete an inline policy, use DeleteUserPolicy. For information about policies, see Managed policies and inline policies in the IAM User Guide.

Use the -Select parameter to control the cmdlet output. The cmdlet doesn't have a return value by default. Specifying -Select '*' will result in the cmdlet returning the whole service response (Amazon.IdentityManagement.Model.DetachUserPolicyResponse). Specifying -Select '^ParameterName' will result in the cmdlet returning the selected cmdlet parameter value.

The name (friendly name, not ARN) of the IAM user to detach the policy from.This parameter allows (through its regex pattern) a string of characters consisting of upper and lowercase alphanumeric characters with no spaces. You can also include any of the following characters: _+=,.@-

The user-defined name of an AWS credentials or SAML-based role profile containing credential information. The profile is expected to be found in the secure credential file shared with the AWS SDK for .NET and AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio. This cmdlet does not generate any output.The service response (type Amazon.IdentityManagement.Model.DetachUserPolicyResponse) be returned by specifying '-Select *'.

Examples

Example 1

This example detaches the managed policy whose ARN is arn:aws:iam::123456789012:policy/TesterPolicy from the IAM user named Bob.

Example 2

Get-IAMAttachedUserPolicyList -UserName Theresa | Unregister-IAMUserPolicy -Username Theresa
This example finds all the managed policies that are attached to the IAM user named Theresa and detaches those policies from the user.
