Personalizing Amazon Q Business chat responses

Amazon Q Business uses user location and job-related information from a customer's IAM Identity Center instance to generate personalized responses that are more relevant to your end user. For example, when your end user asks "What are the company holidays for this year?", Amazon Q Business will list region-specific holidays based on their location (country).

For response personalization to be effective, you must add Address information and Job related information when you add users in your IAM Identity Center instance. You must do this before you create your Amazon Q Business application. For steps on how to do this, see Add users in the IAM Identity Center User Guide.

Once you add user personalization data to your IAM Identity Center instance and finish configuring your Amazon Q Business application, responses are personalized by default. You can choose to deactivate it at any time using the Admin controls and guardrails feature in Amazon Q Business.
