Amazon Simple Email Service
Developer Guide

Step 1: Before You Begin

Before you can start this tutorial, you must sign up for an AWS account (if you don't already have one), and register the domain you want to receive email for with Route 53. The following sections describe where to accomplish those tasks.

If you already have an AWS account, skip to the next section: Register a Domain with Route 53. Otherwise, follow these steps.

To sign up for an AWS account

  1. Open, and then choose Create an AWS Account.

This might be unavailable in your browser if you previously signed into the AWS Management Console. In that case, choose Sign in to a different account, and then choose Create a new AWS account.

  2. Follow the online instructions.

Part of the sign-up procedure involves receiving a phone call and entering a PIN using the phone keypad.

Register a Domain with Route 53

In this tutorial, you will receive email for a domain that you have registered with Route 53. To get this domain, you can either register a new domain or transfer an existing domain. Transferring an existing domain can take several days.

Next step: Step 2: Verify Your Domain
