AWS Builder ID - AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio

AWS Builder ID

AWS Builder ID is an additional AWS authentication method that may be required to use certain services, such as Amazon CodeWhisperer and Amazon CodeCatalyst.

The following sections describe how to create an AWS Builder ID and authenticate with your AWS account from the AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio.

Note

At present, the only time that a AWS Builder ID is required for the CodeCatalyst service for the Toolkit for Visual Studio is when you're cloning a 3rd party repository.

Signing up for an AWS Builder ID

To sign up for your AWS Builder ID from Visual Studio, complete the following steps.

  1. From the Getting Started with the AWS Toolkit connection UI, select the CodeWhisperer radial to expand the CodeWhisperer authentication options.

  2. From the I'm using CodeWhisperer on my own section, choose the Sign up or Sign in button to open the Log in with AWS AWS Builder ID dialog.

  3. Choose the Open and Copy Code button to open the AWS Authorize request site in your default web browser.

  4. From the AWS Authorize request site, paste the confirmation code from Visual Studio and choose the Submit and continue button to proceed.

  5. Follow the prompts in your default web browser, you're notified when the authorization process is complete, it's safe to close your browser, and return to Visual Studio.
