Synopsis

Calls the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) ModifyInstancePlacement API operation.

Syntax

Edit-EC2InstancePlacement
-InstanceId <String>
-Affinity <Affinity>
-GroupId <String>
-GroupName <String>
-HostId <String>
-HostResourceGroupArn <String>
-PartitionNumber <Int32>
-Tenancy <HostTenancy>
-Select <String>
-PassThru <SwitchParameter>
-Force <SwitchParameter>
-ClientConfig <AmazonEC2Config>

Description

Modifies the placement attributes for a specified instance. You can do the following:
  • Modify the affinity between an instance and a Dedicated Host. When affinity is set to host and the instance is not associated with a specific Dedicated Host, the next time the instance is started, it is automatically associated with the host on which it lands. If the instance is restarted or rebooted, this relationship persists.
  • Change the Dedicated Host with which an instance is associated.
  • Change the instance tenancy of an instance.
  • Move an instance to or from a placement group.
At least one attribute for affinity, host ID, tenancy, or placement group name must be specified in the request. Affinity and tenancy can be modified in the same request. To modify the host ID, tenancy, placement group, or partition for an instance, the instance must be in the stopped state.

Parameters

-Affinity <Affinity>
The affinity setting for the instance. For more information, see Host affinity in the Amazon EC2 User Guide.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-ClientConfig <AmazonEC2Config>
Amazon.PowerShell.Cmdlets.EC2.AmazonEC2ClientCmdlet.ClientConfig
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
This parameter overrides confirmation prompts to force the cmdlet to continue its operation. This parameter should always be used with caution.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-GroupId <String>
The Group Id of a placement group. You must specify the Placement Group Group Id to launch an instance in a shared placement group.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-GroupName <String>
The name of the placement group in which to place the instance. For spread placement groups, the instance must have a tenancy of default. For cluster and partition placement groups, the instance must have a tenancy of default or dedicated. To remove an instance from a placement group, specify an empty string ("").
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-HostId <String>
The ID of the Dedicated Host with which to associate the instance.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-HostResourceGroupArn <String>
The ARN of the host resource group in which to place the instance. The instance must have a tenancy of host to specify this parameter.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-InstanceId <String>
The ID of the instance that you are modifying.
Required?True
Position?1
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-PartitionNumber <Int32>
The number of the partition in which to place the instance. Valid only if the placement group strategy is set to partition.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-PassThru <SwitchParameter>
Changes the cmdlet behavior to return the value passed to the InstanceId parameter. The -PassThru parameter is deprecated, use -Select '^InstanceId' instead. This parameter will be removed in a future version.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Select <String>
Use the -Select parameter to control the cmdlet output. The default value is 'Return'. Specifying -Select '*' will result in the cmdlet returning the whole service response (Amazon.EC2.Model.ModifyInstancePlacementResponse). Specifying the name of a property of type Amazon.EC2.Model.ModifyInstancePlacementResponse will result in that property being returned. Specifying -Select '^ParameterName' will result in the cmdlet returning the selected cmdlet parameter value.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Tenancy <HostTenancy>
The tenancy for the instance. For T3 instances, you must launch the instance on a Dedicated Host to use a tenancy of host. You can't change the tenancy from host to dedicated or default. Attempting to make one of these unsupported tenancy changes results in an InvalidRequest error code.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)

Common Credential and Region Parameters

-AccessKey <String>
The AWS access key for the user account. This can be a temporary access key if the corresponding session token is supplied to the -SessionToken parameter.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesAK
-Credential <AWSCredentials>
An AWSCredentials object instance containing access and secret key information, and optionally a token for session-based credentials.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-EndpointUrl <String>
The endpoint to make the call against.Note: This parameter is primarily for internal AWS use and is not required/should not be specified for normal usage. Only specify this parameter if you must direct the call to a specific custom endpoint.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-NetworkCredential <PSCredential>

If the profile is not found then the cmdlet will search in the ini-format credential file at the default location: (user's home directory)\.aws\credentials.If this parameter is specified then this cmdlet will only search the ini-format credential file at the location given. As the current folder can vary in a shell or during script execution it is advised that you use specify a fully qualified path instead of a relative path.
