Description

Allocates a Dedicated Host to your account. At a minimum, specify the supported instance type or instance family, the Availability Zone in which to allocate the host, and the number of hosts to allocate.

Note: For scripts written against earlier versions of this module this cmdlet can also be invoked with the alias, New-EC2Hosts.

Parameters

-AssetId <String[]>
The IDs of the Outpost hardware assets on which to allocate the Dedicated Hosts. Targeting specific hardware assets on an Outpost can help to minimize latency between your workloads. This parameter is supported only if you specify OutpostArn. If you are allocating the Dedicated Hosts in a Region, omit this parameter.
  • If you specify this parameter, you can omit Quantity. In this case, Amazon EC2 allocates a Dedicated Host on each specified hardware asset.
  • If you specify both AssetIds and Quantity, then the value for Quantity must be equal to the number of asset IDs specified.

-AutoPlacement <AutoPlacement>
Indicates whether the host accepts any untargeted instance launches that match its instance type configuration, or if it only accepts Host tenancy instance launches that specify its unique host ID. For more information, see Understanding auto-placement and affinity in the Amazon EC2 User Guide.Default: on

-ClientToken <String>
Unique, case-sensitive identifier that you provide to ensure the idempotency of the request. For more information, see Ensuring Idempotency.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
This parameter overrides confirmation prompts to force the cmdlet to continue its operation. This parameter should always be used with caution.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-HostMaintenance <HostMaintenance>
Indicates whether to enable or disable host maintenance for the Dedicated Host. For more information, see Host maintenance in the Amazon EC2 User Guide.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-HostRecovery <HostRecovery>
Indicates whether to enable or disable host recovery for the Dedicated Host. Host recovery is disabled by default. For more information, see Host recovery in the Amazon EC2 User Guide.Default: off
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-InstanceFamily <String>
Specifies the instance family to be supported by the Dedicated Hosts. If you specify an instance family, the Dedicated Hosts support multiple instance types within that instance family. If you want the Dedicated Hosts to support a specific instance type only, omit this parameter and specify InstanceType instead. You cannot specify InstanceFamily and InstanceType in the same request.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-InstanceType <String>
Specifies the instance type to be supported by the Dedicated Hosts. If you specify an instance type, the Dedicated Hosts support instances of the specified instance type only.If you want the Dedicated Hosts to support multiple instance types in a specific instance family, omit this parameter and specify InstanceFamily instead. You cannot specify InstanceType and InstanceFamily in the same request.
Required?False
Position?1
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-OutpostArn <String>
The Amazon Resource Name (ARN) of the Amazon Web Services Outpost on which to allocate the Dedicated Host. If you specify OutpostArn, you can optionally specify AssetIds.If you are allocating the Dedicated Host in a Region, omit this parameter.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-PassThru <SwitchParameter>
Changes the cmdlet behavior to return the value passed to the InstanceType parameter. The -PassThru parameter is deprecated, use -Select '^InstanceType' instead. This parameter will be removed in a future version.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Quantity <Int32>
The number of Dedicated Hosts to allocate to your account with these parameters. If you are allocating the Dedicated Hosts on an Outpost, and you specify AssetIds, you can omit this parameter. In this case, Amazon EC2 allocates a Dedicated Host on each specified hardware asset. If you specify both AssetIds and Quantity, then the value that you specify for Quantity must be equal to the number of asset IDs specified.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Select <String>
Use the -Select parameter to control the cmdlet output. The default value is 'HostIds'. Specifying -Select '*' will result in the cmdlet returning the whole service response (Amazon.EC2.Model.AllocateHostsResponse). Specifying the name of a property of type Amazon.EC2.Model.AllocateHostsResponse will result in that property being returned. Specifying -Select '^ParameterName' will result in the cmdlet returning the selected cmdlet parameter value.
Required?False

Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-TagSpecification <TagSpecification[]>
The tags to apply to the Dedicated Host during creation.

Common Credential and Region Parameters

-AccessKey <String>
The AWS access key for the user account. This can be a temporary access key if the corresponding session token is supplied to the -SessionToken parameter.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesAK
-Credential <AWSCredentials>
An AWSCredentials object instance containing access and secret key information, and optionally a token for session-based credentials.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-EndpointUrl <String>
The endpoint to make the call against.Note: This parameter is primarily for internal AWS use and is not required/should not be specified for normal usage. The cmdlets normally determine which endpoint to call based on the region specified to the -Region parameter or set as default in the shell (via Set-DefaultAWSRegion). Only specify this parameter if you must direct the call to a specific custom endpoint.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-NetworkCredential <PSCredential>
Used with SAML-based authentication when ProfileName references a SAML role profile. Contains the network credentials to be supplied during authentication with the configured identity provider's endpoint. This parameter is not required if the user's default network identity can or should be used during authentication.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-ProfileLocation <String>
Used to specify the name and location of the ini-format credential file (shared with the AWS CLI and other AWS SDKs)If this optional parameter is omitted this cmdlet will search the encrypted credential file used by the AWS SDK for .NET and AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio first. If the profile is not found then the cmdlet will search in the ini-format credential file at the default location: (user's home directory)\.aws\credentials.If this parameter is specified then this cmdlet will only search the ini-format credential file at the location given. As the current folder can vary in a shell or during script execution it is advised that you use specify a fully qualified path instead of a relative path.

Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesAWSProfilesLocation, ProfilesLocation
-ProfileName <String>
The user-defined name of an AWS credentials or SAML-based role profile containing credential information.
