Attaches an EBS volume to a running or stopped instance and exposes it to the instance with the specified device name.

Encrypted EBS volumes must be attached to instances that support Amazon EBS encryption. For more information, see Amazon EBS encryption in the Amazon EBS User Guide.

After you attach an EBS volume, you must make it available. For more information, see Make an EBS volume available for use.

Note:

This is an asynchronous operation using the standard naming convention for .NET 4.5 or higher. For .NET 3.5 the operation is implemented as a pair of methods using the standard naming convention of BeginAttachVolume and EndAttachVolume.

Parameters

request
Type: Amazon.EC2.Model.AttachVolumeRequest

Container for the necessary parameters to execute the AttachVolume service method.

cancellationToken
Type: System.Threading.CancellationToken

A cancellation token that can be used by other objects or threads to receive notice of cancellation.

The response from the AttachVolume service method, as returned by EC2.
