Deadline Cloud release notes

This page contains information about the latest releases and updates to AWS Deadline Cloud.

Date Title Description
2026-10-07 View the resources each user or group can access You can now see every farm, queue, and fleet that a single user or group in your identity store can access. In the Deadline Cloud console, the new Resource access tab in User management lists those resources across all AWS Regions. A Granted through column shows whether a user received each access level directly or inherited it from a group. You can audit and change a user's or group's access from one place, instead of opening each resource in turn. In the Deadline Cloud monitor, a user with access to only a sub resource of a farm can now reach it from the Farms page. A queue or fleet is one such sub resource. Based on each user's membership, the monitor also disables actions that the user can't take and hides paths that the user can't reach. The new ListMemberships API powers these features.
2026-09-29 Run jobs in containers on Linux service-managed fleets You can now run jobs inside a container on Linux service-managed fleets. Enable the Docker software add-on on your fleet, then choose the Docker queue environment and an Amazon ECR image URI on your queue. Deadline Cloud configures a rootless container runtime on every worker and pulls your image. Job templates need no container commands or image references, so existing job bundles work unchanged.
2026-09-29 Expressions in job templates Job templates that list the new EXPR extension can now contain expressions. Expressions cover arithmetic, conditionals, string and path operations, and list comprehensions in a Python-style syntax.
2026-09-29 Wrap actions change how job actions run An environment that lists the new WRAP_ACTIONS extension can now wrap the actions of the environments and tasks inside it. Three new actions, onWrapEnvEnter, onWrapTaskRun, and onWrapEnvExit, receive the wrapped action's command, arguments, timeout, and environment variables. They wrap a task's command safely. Use cases include containers, Rez, and other instrumentation.
2026-09-29 Higher job template limits and usability improvements With the new FEATURE_BUNDLE_1 extension, job templates support up to 200 job parameters, up from 50, and job, step, and environment names up to 512 characters. You can use format strings in more places, and actions accept a python, bash, cmd, powershell, or node shortcut that takes a script inline.
2026-09-29 Assistant now uses Claude Sonnet 4.6 The Deadline Cloud assistant now uses Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4.6 as its foundation model, replacing Claude Sonnet 4.5. Responses are more concise and arrive faster. You don't need to take any action, because the assistant's existing Amazon Bedrock IAM policy works unchanged.
2026-09-28 Deadline Cloud Monitor 1.3.0 The Deadline Cloud Monitor desktop application now supports two more ways to sign in. You can sign in with the AWS Management Console, which connects to a monitor with an existing console session, or with an AWS profile that you already have. When you choose Submit Job Bundle, the monitor now opens a job bundle browser in place of a folder picker. You can browse job bundles on your computer, job bundles that your team shared through Amazon S3, and job bundles that you submitted before, and you can review a bundle's steps and parameters before you submit it. To share a bundle with your team, save it to Amazon S3 from the submitter. This release also upgrades the Deadline client to version 0.60.7, and adds a startup warning when the AppImage runs on Ubuntu 22.04, where it cannot load profiles. On Ubuntu 22.04, install the deb package instead. It fixes bugs in macOS window behavior, session expiry, application updates, themes, and the Linux packages.
2026-09-14 Blender 5.2 support and LTS updates Deadline Cloud now supports Blender 5.2. You can submit render and compositing jobs from Blender 5.2 to your Deadline Cloud render farm. We also updated Blender 4.5 LTS from 4.5.10 to 4.5.13 and Blender 4.2 LTS from 4.2.21 to 4.2.23 with upstream stability fixes.
2026-08-31 Deadline Cloud Monitor adds a step dependency graph view In the Deadline Cloud Monitor, you can now switch the Steps panel between a table view and a graph view. The graph shows each step as a node and its dependencies as edges, so you can quickly see the order of execution. Choose a node to select its step, or choose View step dependencies to filter the panel to related steps.
2026-08-24 Share and browse job bundles in the Deadline Cloud client You can now share job bundles with everyone on a queue using Deadline Cloud client 0.60.5. A new job bundle browser in the job submitter lets you browse and preview bundles from your queue, your local filesystem, or your job submission history. New deadline bundle CLI commands let you upload, download, and list shared bundles so you can integrate bundle sharing into pipeline scripts.
2026-08-21 Automatic download status tracking in Deadline Cloud Monitor With the Deadline Cloud Monitor desktop application, you can now see the progress, status, and health of automatic file downloads from your jobs. A new Download status column at the job and task level shows download progress. It confirms when all output files are available on your destination drive, and an indicator displays how recently the status was updated. A queue-level output sync indicator also shows the overall download status for your queue and surfaces any problems. If files are unavailable for any reason, the monitor provides guidance on next steps. You can also choose Troubleshoot with AI to diagnose download problems with the Deadline Cloud Assistant. You no longer need to manually verify files on your drive before you start the next steps in your workflow.
2026-08-13 Deadline Cloud monitor adds an inline logs panel In the Deadline Cloud monitor, you can now add a Logs panel to the job monitor page. To add it, choose Add panel, then choose Logs. The panel shows logs for the selected task, and you can switch to worker logs, choose a retry attempt, or jump to a session action.
2026-08-12 Job and task table improvements in Deadline Cloud monitor The tasks table in the Deadline Cloud monitor now includes columns for each task's latest run. These columns show run status, status message, progress, exit code, worker, fleet, and instance type. You can identify and address retried or failed tasks without opening each task's run details. Additional columns such as host name, IP addresses, vCPU, memory, operating system, and GPU details are available in the table preferences. The jobs table also adds an optional Description column. Job, step, and task details throughout the job panel also load faster.
2026-08-05 Usage explorer adds persistent volume storage costs Deadline Cloud now reports persistent volume costs alongside compute and license costs. You can view per-fleet storage costs by selecting the Usage Type grouping in the Deadline Cloud monitor usage explorer. This helps you better understand your infrastructure costs.
2026-06-03 Plugin sync for Blender and Autodesk Maya Service-managed fleets now support plugin sync for Blender and Autodesk Maya. Upload your plugin files to a prescribed path in your queue's job attachments S3 bucket. Deadline Cloud automatically syncs them to workers when a job session starts.
2026-06-02 Blender 5.1 support and LTS updates Deadline Cloud now supports Blender 5.1. You can submit render and compositing jobs from Blender 5.1 to your Deadline Cloud render farm. Additionally, Blender 4.5 LTS has been updated from 4.5.5 to 4.5.10 and Blender 4.2 LTS from 4.2.16 to 4.2.21, incorporating upstream rendering fixes and stability improvements.
2026-05-28 Persistent storage for service-managed fleets You can now configure persistent storage on service-managed fleets to preserve data across worker lifecycle events. Persistent storage uses dedicated Amazon EBS gp3 volumes, separate from the root boot volume. These volumes maintain application caches, conda package installations, and workspaces when the fleet recycles workers. For more information, see Persistent storage for service-managed fleets in the Deadline Cloud User Guide.
2026-05-28 SOC 1, 2, and 3 compliance Deadline Cloud is now listed on the AWS Services in Scope page for System and Organization Controls (SOC) 1, 2, and 3 compliance. Third-party audit reports are available for download using AWS Artifact. For more information, see Compliance validation for Deadline Cloud.
2026-05-18 Faster conda queue environment setup on service-managed fleets The default conda queue environment on service-managed fleets has been improved. New conda-queue-env-enter and conda-queue-env-exit commands have been added, which provide faster environment creation, with even greater improvements on repeated runs. For more details, see https://github.com/aws-deadline/deadline-cloud-samples/tree/mainline/queue_environments.
