Create a connection

You can create connections to the following third-party provider types:

High-level workflow for creating connections

Provider Type Console CLI
Cloud provider, such as Bitbucket or GitHub Use the Create connection option in the console. The console lets you install the AWS CodeStar app for your third-party provider or choose one you have already installed. The connection is in an AVAILABLE status.

Step 1: Use the CreateConnection call. The connection is in a PENDING status.

Step 2: Use the Update a pending connection option in the console. The console lets you install the AWS CodeStar app for your third-party provider or choose one you have already installed. The connection moves to AVAILABLE status.

Installed provider, such as GitHub Enterprise Server

Step 1: Use the Create host option in the console. The host is in a Pending status.

Step 2: Use the Update a pending host option in the console. The console lets you register the AWS CodeStar app for your third-party provider. The host moves to Available status.

Step 3: Use the Create connection option in the console. The console lets you install the AWS CodeStar app for your third-party provider or choose one you have already installed. The connection is in an Available status.

Step 1: Use the CreateHost call. The host is in a Pending status.

Step 2: Use the Update a pending host option in the console. The console lets you register the AWS CodeStar app for your third-party provider. The host moves to Available status.

Step 3: Use the CreateConnection call. The connection is in a Pending status.

Step 4: Use the Update a pending connection option in the console. The console lets you install the AWS CodeStar app for your third-party provider or choose one you have already installed. The connection moves to Available status.
